  • Position: Experiential Learning Facilitator
    Location: Hartsville, South Carolina
    Schedule: Afterschool, Monday–Thursday; some weekends for trips and events

    We are seeking passionate, mission-driven adults to join our team as Experiential Learning Facilitators, guiding adolescents in meaningful, reflective, and adventure-based learning experiences. This is more than a teaching role — it’s an opportunity to mentor, inspire, and cultivate the next generation of leaders.

    Position Overview

    Experiential Learning Facilitators are responsible for creating safe, engaging, and reflective learning environments for youth in our after-school program. Facilitators guide activities, support leadership development, model Cypress values, and contribute to a collaborative team culture.

    All hires begin at Level 1, with opportunities to progress to Level 2 and Level 3 based on demonstrated skills, experience, and performance. Progression is flexible and individualized, encouraging professional growth and mastery of experiential learning and youth leadership facilitation.

    Key Responsibilities (All Levels)

    • Facilitate daily program activities, including warm-ups, lessons, and reflective circles

    • Support youth in developing leadership, teamwork, and self-awareness

    • Model and uphold the 6 Cypress Values during all interactions

    • Assist with program logistics: transitions, snacks, materials, safety checks, and clean-up

    • Participate in team planning, debriefs, and professional development

    • Collaborate with Program Coordinators and fellow facilitators to ensure high-quality programming

    Additional responsibilities grow with each level (1–3), including:

    • Providing feedback and mentorship to peers

    • Leading deep-thought or content-rich activities

    • Assisting with data collection, case management, and goal tracking

    • Driving transportation (if qualified) and supporting off-site activities

    • Contributing to recruitment, training, and program design

    Qualifications & Skills

    We are looking for candidates who:

    • Are passionate about youth development and experiential learning

    • Can guide and inspire adolescents through reflective, hands-on learning

    • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills

    • Are open to feedback and continuous growth

    • Have the ability to manage group dynamics and adapt to the needs of diverse learners

    • Hold or are willing to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification (required at Level 2+)

    Preferred:

    • Previous experience in youth leadership, outdoor education, social-emotional learning, or positive youth development

    • Experience with adventure-based activities, camping, hiking, or other experiential learning programs

    Hours & Compensation

    • Afterschool shifts (Part-time): Monday–Thursday, with additional hours for trips, events, and professional development

    • Hourly pay starting at $18–$25 depending on level and experience

    • Full schedule and annual hours vary by level (Level 1: ~688 hrs/year; Level 3: ~1,096 hrs/year)

    About Cypress Adventures

    We are seeking a dedicated Course Coordinator to manage all aspects of a Youth Leadership Program course. This role is ideal for an experienced youth development professional who thrives in a leadership position, enjoys mentoring staff, and excels at managing complex logistics.

    Position Overview

    The Course Coordinator is responsible for the overall management, supervision, and evaluation of a Youth Leadership Program course. Coordinators ensure smooth daily operations, support the professional development of assistants and facilitators, coordinate transportation, maintain program documentation, and uphold the Cypress Adventures mission and values.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Coordinate all aspects of a Youth Leadership Program course

    • Supervise assistants and facilitators, providing training, coaching, and performance evaluation

    • Lead daily debrief and planning huddles

    • Facilitate program operations including student transportation, vehicle/gear maintenance, and scheduling

    • Maintain accurate program and case management documentation

    • Conduct recruiting and retention efforts for students each semester

    • Integrate program content areas into daily operations and staff coaching

    • Model and uphold Cypress Values and Circle Keeping practices

    • Maintain professional certifications (WFA/WFR) as required for outdoor activities

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Proven experience in youth development, experiential education, or leadership programs

    • Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills

    • Ability to manage multiple tasks, logistics, and personnel effectively

    • Experience with student recruitment, retention, and program evaluation

    • Comfort facilitating outdoor activities, including camping and hiking trips

    • Ability to model, teach, and provide feedback on experiential learning and Circle Keeping practices

    • WFA/WFR certified (or willingness to obtain certification)

    Hours & Compensation

    • Full-time, flexible Monday–Friday schedule with additional responsibilities for trips and events

    • Summer program and professional development opportunities

    • Annual salary: ~$40,000 - 50,000 depending on experience
